Last year, Retail Properties of America Inc. purchased the Heritage Square shopping plaza on Gilman Blvd. This center had been slowing dying.
Shortly after that, Denny’s was closed, with no announcement.
Since then, the Denny’s building has sat vacant, looking pretty sad.
We now know that the Denny’s building will be demolished and replaced with a Corner Bakery Café. This will be quite an upgrade from Denny’s but is still a family oriented café.
It will be about the same size as the current building.
According to a local representative of the property owner, this lease “is a critical step in rebranding the merchandising mix of the center and will be a catalyst to attract new retailers and consumers to Heritage Square.”
Expect to see additional improvements to the property’s common areas as the beginning of the rehabilitation of Heritage Square.
