Issaquah Creek and bank after construction. Riprap removed, riparian area reestablished and planted with native species. Large woody debris to control the waterway, bank erosion and to provide salmon cover.
The City of Issaquah is underway with a major salmon habitat construction project at the confluence of the main stem of Issaquah Creek and the East Fork of Issaquah Creek.
This confluence gives name to Issaquah’s new Confluence Park located at the southwest corner of Holly Street and Rainier Blvd.
Vino Bella is a wine bar located on Front Street in Old Town, Issaquah.
If you’re an uninitiated Issaquah resident (like me), you might think that Issaquah rolls up the sidewalks at 8 pm weekend nights — and even earlier on certain nights.
I’ve seen Vino Bella many, many times and thought, “Oh there’s a nice quiet wine bar for a date.” Certainly, for some days that Vino Bella is open, that is a good description.
For over a decade, the Ginnaty family of Issaquah has put on a magnificent Christmas Light Show.
Located on a dark, rural street near the southern edge of town, the display rivals Las Vegas when all the lights are on.
Hundreds of thousands of lights are controlled by a computer. The lighting and music create story lines and motion in perfect timing to music played over exterior speakers and their personal AM radio station. You can tune to the AM station and hear the music in your car.
Congratulations to subscriber Brenda Laurance, the winner of this giveaway!
Comedy Night is coming again to Vino Bella, with a fresh set of three acts. We recently attended and had a great time.
And here’s the best part — you can score some comedy magic for free. Totally gratis. Claude Blumenzweig, the owner of Vino Bella, has generously partnered with Issaquah 360 to offer a prize of two comedy night tickets to one of our lucky email subscribers.
Update 3/3/2014: Thanks for all the submissions. The tickets were won by David & Sonya Matthews.

Michele Steele, the owner of Capri Cellars, has generously partnered with Issaquah 360 to offer a “Six Course Wine and Cheese Pairing” for two as a prize to one of our lucky email subscribers. It’s six wines paired with six different cheeses, served with Charcuterie plate and chocolate truffles for two people, with retail value of $58 (not redeemable in cash).
We arrived for lunch on a weekday at about 12:20 pm. The hostess met us and allowed us to sit wherever we wanted. There were four tables of other guests at the time. This felt inviting, neither too crowded nor too empty.
Not having eaten at this restaurant before, we took-in the environment. The alternating black and white tile floor provides the backdrop for the wooden tables and leather looking booths. The chairs are of the light, simple and wooden bistro variety. The tables are laid attractively with silverware, bread plate, wine glasses and folded center cloth napkin. The walls are covered with large and small art. There is a small bar in one corner.
Update 2/13/2014: The tickets were won by lucky email subscriber Karla Shannon Garvey.
Comedy is something we all enjoy. Socializing, sharing a drink, eating a meal and spending the night out requires something more like a comedy club.
As we have shared here, Vino Bella is hosting a monthly comedy night. We recently attended and had a tremendously good time.

Built in the initial phase of the shopping center in 2005, it has long been part of the community.
Probably the most up-scale Mexican restaurant in town, it isn’t fancy but it is modern and clean, with a feel of the US southwest. The family that owns the restaurant hails from Jalisco, Mexico but you still won’t hear mariachi music or see hanging sombreros.
